Janet Rees Inspired Design

AT 410: Apparel Production II: The objective of this assignment was to find inspiration in the Janet Rees collection from the K-State historic garment museum. My process included sketching the design, patterning the dress, making a mockup, and then cutting out the fashion fabric before sewing the final look. To get the lace detailing I desired, I had to cut the lace motifs out individually and then hand sew them onto a tulle overlay. Once the dress was complete I went back and added pearl beading to all of the flowers. The dress was shown in the 2019 Apparel and Textiles Showcase of Excellence and won first place in the Janet Rees Inspired Design Division.
